"Each person matters! We all have a story to share and a legacy to leave behind. We each want to feel seen as our best versions."

VALUES AND PHILOSOPHY

My values are deep. I am a conscientious person, and I lead my business with intention, I am strategic and practical, overall, I want to be a great service. I want to support my clients in approachable, kind, and valuable ways. I care about building a relationship with my clients to set a foundation and build inspiration. Time is one of our greatest gifts to share and I offer my clients time with attention above all. Time to observe and put what I learn about my clients into perspective as I capture a precious, romantic love story of genuine images.

My service, resources, and photographs get into the heart and soul of what matters most in the world – relationships, connection, joy, and love. There is beauty in each person and each relationship, and my biggest hope is that I can create a service that brings you back to viewing your life through a lens of hope, gratitude, magic, joy, and happiness – In who you are and what makes your life unique and wonderful.

HI I'M KATRINA,
      YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

1. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING PHOTOGRAPHY?

To make a long history short, I got my first Canon camera during my second year of college. That was in 2009. I earned a Bachelors in Design from Bemidji State University. During this time, I did my first paid engagement session. I followed a career in Exhibit Design and went to Oregon for 4 years after college. Photography tagged along and I did a grad session and personal projects with my camera. Looking back, I always found joy in trying to capture memorable moments. When I returned to Minnesota, I started my photography business as I pursued a career in Early Childhood. This was more than 8 years ago already! In the spring of 2022, I chose to be a full-time entrepreneur, focusing on my business and how to provide a valuable service to the people of Northern Minnesota.

2. WHY IS PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY SO VALUABLE?

Each person matters! We all have a story to share and a legacy to leave behind. We each want to feel seen at our best angles and as our best versions. Photographs tell a version of our lives that is visible. With cell phones and a camera available to us at all times it might seem over the top to invest in professional photography, but there is so much more value in the investment than people might realize. I want to challenge this thinking!

Professional photography has a lot of layers of expertise involved, and done right, it can give you a stunning representation of memories that you will be excited to look at or that challenge you. Not everybody can be a professional photographer, it is rare to find somebody who can provide intentional visuals that document a feeling and who take the time to observe you with compassion and love. Photographs are a gateway to our memories and often a version of the story we can't experience naturally. Professional photographs let us see our lives and ourselves from a beautiful, skilled perspective.

Professional photographs can be a tool of self-discovery – they can help us grow and discover the joy and love we want for ourselves and our lives. They can inspire gratitude and connection, they can also challenge us to dive into insecurities so we can begin learning ways of overcoming or embracing them. The investment can be a tool and a gift. The value is sustainable. The value isn't new age, it's been a respectable investment for a very long time. An investment that's value continues long after you've spent the money.

4. ARE YOU MARRIED?

Yes. I was married in the spring of 2023 in beautiful Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. It turned out to be absolutely wonderful at it's core.

My wedding was nearly a year after my dad tragically died during a mental crisis. I had dreamed of my wedding since I was a little girl, and leaning on those dreams got me through the hard seasons of waiting for a proposal. I never imagined my wedding without my dad, so this season ended up being very hard for me. Not like you imagine and see in fairy tales but it pushed me to think deeply about the meaning of a wedding and what would be best for me and Kelly as we approach it. I know deeply how challenging it can be to navigate emotions and expectations during this season. Planning my wedding was a lonely experience for me but I am determined to believe life happens for me and not to me so because I had that challenging experience and I succeeded in not getting lost in the misery of it I can better service my clients because of what I learned during this time. I care deeply about supporting my couples and others who might reach out to me, because I believe it matters. Life is challenging and sometimes, all it takes in this busy world is a new way of thinking or a comforting voice reminding you that you matter and your needs are important.

I adopted some wonderful practices that helped prepare me for my wedding day. Non Fiction, self-depelopment are engraved into my lifestyle. These habits and practices I explored were the foundation for having the most beautiful day of my life with my best friend and husband, Kelly.

3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF A WEDDING DAY?

Observing the meaning come to life for the couple. Wedding days are important because it is an intentional time to celebrate, which is extremely important for our happiness and overall wellness and humans living this life. This gets filtered in the pressures around a wedding but part of my mission is to help change the narrative around this so you can step back into your unique experience and not feel so much pressure to control the perfect photograph. YOU DESERVE TO FEEL EXCITED, MINDFUL AND ABLE TO ENJOY YOUR WEDDING DAY! I am passionate about mental, emotional, and physical well-being and I have done countless hours of research for more than a decade trying to answer all the hard questions. I have overcome a lot in this process, I have lived through tragedies and moved through hardships, I have seen people at their worst, I've seen people get lost in their expectations. I have seen the ugly side of how the human mind can control behavior. I have lost myself, and I have also found myself, I've learned that this life isn't meant to be figured out. The key to a happy life is simply for it to be enjoyed. It needs to surprise us! It needs to be bad so we can appreciate the good. It is not perfect, but there is beauty in the way it is because it is a miracle and it is yours. Seeing a couple step into a celebration, step into being vulnerable to have a meaningful moment is magical. That is my favorite part of a wedding day. The raw and rare emotion that comes out, that I get to observe and give back in a gallery of timeless photographs.

5. WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Meaning. The meaning underneath the surface of all interactions and details. People and personalities inspire me. I am naturally creative and inspiration flows endlessly, I have always loved solving problems and designing solutions that work because of the deeper reasoning they can impact our wellbeing.

The magic and faith of humanity inspires me – Love, light, happiness, healing, connection. I am inspired by words and emotions. I believe I am an artist of life through my perspectives, my philosophies and my photographs and crafts.

The inspiration and hope in each and every person's story inspires me.

I am inspired by books and how the wind blows the trees. I am inspired by colour and nature. I am inspired by the sun and how light changes a setting and can influence a great photograph. I am inspired by technology and the science of photography. I am inspired by flower, details and stories.

I am inspired by every single person I am connected to. Life is magical! What I see in others is like stardust, sparkling in the air around us. It's incredible, it's passing, and it is a miracle.
