"Each person matters! We all have a story to share and a legacy to leave behind. We each want to feel seen as our best versions."

VALUES AND PHILOSOPHY

My work is rooted in intention. As a conscientious, strategic, and practical person, I lead my business with care—always aiming to offer a service that is thoughtful, approachable, and genuinely valuable.

At the heart of what I do is relationship. I take time to get to know my clients, creating a foundation of trust that inspires the creative process. I believe that time is one of our most generous gifts—and I give mine fully. Through careful observation and presence, I learn what matters most to you so I can reflect your love story in honest, romantic, and deeply personal imagery.

My service, resources, and photographs aim to touch the heart of what truly matters: connection, joy, love, and the beauty of human relationships. I see each couple as unique and extraordinary, and it’s my hope that through our time together, you feel empowered to view your life through a lens of hope, gratitude, magic, and joy.

This is more than photography—it’s a meaningful experience that honors who you are and what makes your love story one of a kind.

HI I'M KATRINA,
      YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

1. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING PHOTOGRAPHY?

“To make a long story short…”

I got my first Canon camera during my second year of college—back in 2009—while earning my Associate's degree in Design. Later, I went on to earning my Bachelor’s degree in Design from Bemidji State University. Around that time, I photographed my first paid engagement session, and something clicked. I found joy in capturing meaningful, unscripted moments.

After graduation, I moved to Oregon and spent four years working in Exhibit Design. My camera came with me, and I continued photographing friends, graduation sessions, and personal projects—more as a passion than a profession. Looking back, photography was always there, gently tugging at my heart.

When I returned to Minnesota, I started building my photography business while also working in Early Childhood Education. That was over eight years ago. In the spring of 2022, I made the leap to full-time entrepreneurship, committing myself fully to this work and to serving kind-hearted people in Northern Minnesota.

It’s been a journey shaped by creativity, connection, and care—and I’m so grateful for every step that’s brought me here.

2. WHY IS PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY SO VALUABLE?

Every person matters. We each have a story to share and a legacy to leave behind. We all want to feel seen—truly seen—as our most authentic, beautiful selves. Photographs give us a visible version of our lives, capturing moments that might otherwise slip away.

In a world where cell phones are always within reach, investing in professional photography might feel unnecessary at first. But I invite you to challenge that thought. There is so much more depth and value in this investment than many realize.

Professional photography is layered with expertise, intuition, and care. When done with intention, it creates more than just a pretty image—it captures feeling. It documents you in a way that is honest, artful, and compassionate. Not everyone can offer this. It’s rare to find someone who will observe you with love, take the time to understand you, and translate that into visual storytelling.

Photographs are a gateway to memory, and often, they show us a perspective we couldn’t otherwise experience. They allow us to witness ourselves and our lives from a place of beauty and depth.

More than anything, professional photographs can be tools of self-discovery. They can inspire gratitude, connection, and joy. They can challenge us to confront insecurities and help us learn to embrace ourselves more fully. The investment is not just financial—it’s emotional, spiritual, and enduring.

This isn’t a fleeting trend. It’s a timeless practice. Professional photography has always been a worthy investment—one whose value only grows with time.

4. ARE YOU MARRIED?

I married my best friend, Kelly, in the spring of 2023 in beautiful Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. At its core, our wedding day was absolutely wonderful—filled with love, light, and intention. But it was also layered with deep personal emotion that made the journey to that day far more complex than I ever could have imagined.

Nearly a year before our wedding, my dad passed away during a mental health crisis. His loss marked my world in a way I never expected, and navigating such grief in the same season as planning a wedding was incredibly difficult. I had dreamed of my wedding since I was a little girl, always picturing him by my side. Losing that dream—and him—was heartbreaking.

Planning my wedding in the aftermath of that loss wasn’t what the fairy tales prepare you for. It was lonely at times. It forced me to think deeply about what a wedding really means and how to make it feel right for me and for us—not anyone else. That soul-searching changed me, and I’m grateful for how it deepened my empathy and my sense of purpose in this work.

I believe life happens for us, not to us. And through that lens, I chose not to stay lost in grief, but to walk through it with intention. Because I’ve walked this path, I now serve my clients with even more care, compassion, and understanding. I know how layered this season can be—how hopes and heartbreak can live side by side. I’m here to remind you that your needs matter, that you matter, and that joy is still possible—even in complicated seasons.

Throughout my journey, I adopted meaningful practices that helped carry me forward—reading non-fiction, deep self-reflection, and committing to personal growth. These habits helped lay the foundation for the most beautiful day of my life. Not perfect, but whole—and deeply true to who we are.

And now, I get to use that lived experience to support others. Not just as a photographer, but as a guide, a comfort, and a reminder that your story deserves to be honored exactly as it is—with honesty, beauty, and care.

3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF A WEDDING DAY?

One of the most powerful parts of photographing a wedding is witnessing the moment when meaning blossoms into something real for the couple. Weddings are important—not because of tradition or perfection, but because they are an intentional time to celebrate love. And celebration, when done with presence and authenticity, is essential to our happiness and overall well-being as human beings.

Too often, this truth gets lost in the noise. Wedding planning becomes clouded by expectations, pressure, and the pursuit of perfection. Part of my mission is to gently shift that narrative. I want to help you return to the heart of your experience—to feel joy, peace, and excitement on your wedding day without being consumed by the need to control every detail or force the perfect photo.

You deserve to feel excited, mindful, and fully present.

My passion for this work is deeply rooted in my commitment to mental, emotional, and physical well-being. For over a decade, I’ve poured myself into personal growth and research—seeking answers to the hard questions, healing from tragedy, and learning how to walk through life with more grace and intention.

I’ve seen how easily people get lost in their expectations. I’ve witnessed how our minds can lead us astray, how we can cling to control in a world that is, by nature, unpredictable. I’ve lost myself—and I’ve found myself again. Through it all, I’ve come to believe that life is not something to “figure out.” It’s meant to be lived. Fully. Imperfectly. Joyfully.

A happy life isn’t about perfection—it’s about perspective. About embracing the mess, the magic, and everything in between. Life is a miracle, and it's yours.

This is why I show up to each wedding day with presence and gratitude. To witness the rare and raw emotion that surfaces when two people allow themselves to be vulnerable—to be celebrated—to be seen. That moment, right there, is my favorite part of a wedding day. And it’s the essence I aim to capture: something timeless, tender, and true.

5. WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

I’m inspired by meaning—the kind that lives beneath the surface of every interaction, every detail, every glance. People and their personalities move me. I'm endlessly curious, naturally creative, and constantly seeking out the "why" behind everything. I’ve always loved solving problems and crafting thoughtful solutions, especially when they can support our well-being in lasting, meaningful ways.

The magic and faith of humanity inspire me: love, light, healing, happiness, connection. I’m deeply moved by words and emotions, and I see myself as an artist of life—expressing what I observe through my perspectives, philosophies, photographs, and creative work.

I find inspiration in every person's story—their hopes, their heartbreaks, their quiet strength. I’m inspired by the way the wind moves through the trees, by the shifting light of the sun, by how a single beam of sunlight can transform a scene. I’m inspired by color, by the textures of nature, by flowers, fine details, and fleeting moments.

I’m also inspired by books, technology, and the science behind photography—how precision and creativity come together to preserve something ephemeral. Every person I’ve connected with has left a mark on me. Life is magical, and I see it everywhere.

What I see in others is like stardust—glimmering, unique, and fleeting. It’s incredible, it’s temporary, and it’s a miracle. And my purpose is to capture that wonder before it fades.
